Most schools release between 3 and 4 p.m. while many parents are still at work. Luckily, Johnston County and Wake County have numerous after-school programs that are safe and affordable.
One of the most convenient options is the after-school programs offered by most schools around the area. These programs offer a professional and safe environment for children to spend their time after school. The after-school program at Cleveland Elementary allows students to spend time on the computer, play games in the cafeteria and go outside, along with many other activities.
Another option is to enroll in a center around the area that specializes in after-school programs, such as the YMCA of Garner. The after-school programs conducted by the YMCA are held at the school’s location. The YMCA of Garner conducts after-school programs at East Garner Elementary, Vandora Springs Elementary and other schools. The YMCA offers a balanced, exciting after-school program that combines physical activity with academics and character development activities.
In Johnston County, Kim’s Kids, Inc. offers after-school programs to students at Dixon Road Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, McGee’s Crossroads Elementary and other schools.
