Bob Etheridge (center) was in attendance at the celebration of the 50-210 fire

department on Aug. 22. The department, which has been serving the McGee’s

Crossroads area for the past 50 years, planned a day of fun and festivities for the

community. The day started with a parade on Church Rd on Highway 50 and arrived

at McGee’s Crossroads Elementary and Middle Schools. The celebration continued

with fire trucks, ambulances and a Life Flight helicopter, as well as food and merchandise

vendors, children’s games, bounce houses, clowns, face painting and a

bake sale. There were also antique tractors, classic cars and race cars on display.

The Grasscats Bluegrass Band entertained the crowd with live music, and the night

came to an end with a fireworks show.
