Emily Schmidt shies away from being the center of attention. Nor will she take credit as the guiding force for the upcoming show, " REVEILLE," that hits the stage at the Clayton Center on Saturday, Sept. 19.

"We're a team," said Schmidt. "There is a great group of people involved."

Schmidt, the producer of REVEILLE, inspired by Vickie Vonn, started taking in local donations from customers to be sent to the Troop Care Package Program in Washington. Over 173 pounds of shampoos, books, videos, hygiene items, creams, silly string, candy and more were shipped for disbursement to troops serving overseas since 2007 when that program was implemented.

Schmidt, who operates the Cleveland Oaks Contract Post Office, said last Christmas they saw hundreds of care packages go through the post office from one family member to another.

"There were stories behind each one of them and some of them were really sad," she said, noting that she'd seen some family members pull out change to pay for postage, and this inspired her to want to focus on helping our local military families with this issue.

"Our community's generous contributions of items could be utilized locally as well," she stated.

With this thought in mind and with the help and support of friends and customers the Reveille Troop Care Project was formed.

The goal of REVEILLE, which is the group's first show, is to help as many people in the area as possible by paying for care packages being sent to troops. For every ticket sold, a military large flat rate box is paid for. Shortly after the show, troop families will be able to obtain vouchers that can be used to send up to two U.S.P.S. flat rate priority boxes each month to their loved ones at any APO or FPO.

"If we can just help as many people as we can in our area, that would be awesome," said Schmidt.

REVEILLE is a fun and exciting variety show that not only will give you a night of entertainment that the team and entertainers hope you will not forget, but a fundraiser to support our local troop families.

The show choreographed by the talented David Geiger will include performances by exceptional local talent such as The Key Notes Barbershop Quartet, Jennifer Konkol, Michael Preston, Matt Rose, Emily Grace Coates, Greg Honeycutt, Morgan Wottrich, Kim Jeffreys, Sue Hardee, Irma Pauline Hernandez, the award winning dancers of DanZe Zone of Garner, and "Feet On Fire" DanceXplosions Competition Team.

Sponsors of the show to date include Four Oaks Bank of Garner, Holiday Inn Express of 40/42, Cleveland Oaks Contract Postal Unit, Cleveland Hair Design and Cleveland Cake and Coffee Company, who will be providing refreshments during intermission (included with ticket).

Tickets are available in advance through the Clayton Center Box Office or Cleveland Oaks Post Office for $13. You can also purchase the tickets online at http://www.reveilleshow.org/Tix-Contact-Donation.html. On the night of the show, tickets are $16.

Donations of items to send to the troops serving our country are always gladly accepted and can be dropped off at Cleveland Oaks Post Office. Monetary donations to help with shipping can be mailed to Reveille Troop Care Project, c/o Cleveland Oaks Post Office, 86 Technology Drive, Garner, NC 27529. You can also donate by credit card by visiting their Web site at http://www.reveilleshow.org/Tix-Contact-Donation.html.
