Bicentennial Celebration and Homecoming at Mount Zion UMC Mount Zion United Methodist Church extends an invitation to all to their Bicentennial Drama on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. “Mount Zion: 200 Years of Blessings” a historical drama with music, was written by Tim Stevens, and will be presented by the Mount Zion Drama Team. Eye of the Eagle gallery seeking artists for exhibit The Eye of the Eagle Art in downtown Clayton is seeking artists to exhibit in “The World’s Largest Tiny Art Show!” The exhibit will open Nov. 1 and feature Art Pieces no larger than 6 x 6 and the exhibit will close on December 31, 2009. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 30. The opening reception for the artists will be Nov. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Dining With Diabetes Cooking School The Dining with Diabetes Cooking School is a five-evening course that provides instruction, information, and nutritional recipes for people living with diabetes. Clyde’s Chapel Plans “Family Fun Day” Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church near Wendell will host a variety of free activities Saturday, Oct. 10, on “Family Fun Day” for the eastern Wake/western Johnston County area. American Legion Post 116 Oktoberfest Celebration Everyone’s invited to our 1st Oktoberfest Celebration at the American legion Post 116 at 6400 Johnson Pond Rd in Fuquay-Varina on Saturday, Oct. 10 starting at 3:30 p.m. Come ready to listen to German music and eat some traditional fare. Hospice of Wake to hold volunteer training Hospice of Wake County will hold a 14-hour training class for new and prospective family support volunteers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 at the non-profit agency’s Youngsville office, 60 Wheaton Ave, One Park Place Building, Suite 92 in Youngsville. This training will give volunteer candidates an informative overview of the hospice mission and philosophy and will equip them with the skills and confidence to visit patients in their homes, hospital, nursing home, or assisted living facility. Attendance does not obligate participants to continue as volunteers. During the course of the training, attendees can decide if patient care is the appropriate volunteer opportunity for them. Other opportunities exist for administrative support and fundraising volunteers, speakers bureau volunteers, grief companions, and puppeteers. Golf Tournament to benefit Cleveland Wildcats The 2009 Cleveland Wildcats Golf Classic will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at Reedy Creek Golf Course. The day will begin at 11 a.m. with registration, followed by a 12 p.m. Shotgun start. A catered dinner will round out the day at 5 p.m. Players may enter individually or as a team.
