Community Hospice of Johnston County to offer free healthcare awareness programs

September 28, 2009 (Clayton, NC) – Community Home Care & Hospice of Johnston County is excited to offer a series of free educational programs to the community. The programs will feature guest speakers including local doctors, resource materials and refreshments. They will be held the second Thursday of each month at 7pm. They will run October through May 2010. The programs are open to the public and will be held at 155 Meghan Circle (Blackstone Plaza) in Selma, NC.

The first of the program, ‘Dealing with Dementia’, will be held October 8, 2009 at 7pm. The guest speaker will be Dr. Marie Louise Zaldivar of Riverdale Family Medicine in Smithfield. This program will include a discussion about dementia, including diagnosis, course and treatment . A question and answer session for caregivers and family members of loved ones dealing with dementia will follow.

Other topics and speakers include: ‘Raising Awareness about Heart Disease’ featuring Dr. Benjamin Atkeson of Wake Heart and Vascular Associates; ‘Raising Awareness about Cancer’ featuring Dr. Russell Anderson of Johnston Medical Associates - Hematology & Oncology; ‘Signs and Symptoms of Caregiver Fatigue’ featuring Renee Godwin a Family Support Specialist; ‘Good Grief’ featuring Sharon Eldridge a Chaplain and Bereavement Counselor.
