Axel Escarcega Mendiola has been recognized as a 2009-2010 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar by the College Board. Axel was selected as a finalist from a pool of over 200,000 Hispanic students who took the PSAT in 2008. Axel is the son of Angelica and Jorge Mendiola of Willow Springs. Axel plans on majoring in a health occupation in college. He is a member of the National Honor Society, HOSA, and the West Johnston Key Club. Axel’s name will be submitted to subscribing 4-year institutions who are interested in communicating with academically outstanding students of Hispanic and Latino heritage.
