Today at 10:16 a.m. Garner Police responded to a report of a person shot at the intersection of Yeargan Rd. and U.S. 70 Hwy.

The victim, identified as Cameron Vernon Albright of Garner, aged 28 years old, reported that he was shot once while in his truck at the stoplight on Yeargan Rd. at U.S. 70 Hwy.

The suspect approached his truck, asked for a lighter, and then shot Mr. Albright, who reported the shooter to be a black male with a specific clothing description. Mr. Albright then drove himself to the Fidelity Bank at 919 W. U.S. 70 Hwy., went into the bank, and asked for help. Personnel at the bank called 911 to request police and EMS assistance. The victim was transported to WakeMed Raleigh for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound in his upper body.

Garner officers including a K-9, as well as N.C. Highway Patrol troopers and Wake County Sheriff's deputies, began a search for the suspect in the general area of the shooting. Garner detectives located a suspect in the area of Vandora Springs Rd. and Methodist Dr. matching the shooter's description.

The detectives approached the suspect, identified themselves and the suspect ran. After a short foot pursuit the suspect was taken into custody. Garner detectives are interviewing the suspect, who will be charged with a felonious assault. Robbery appears to be a likely motive but the investigation is in its initial stages.
