Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to look to a season of celebration and thanksgiving. But with people across the nation experiencing tough times and having to tighten their belts financially, a local salon is gearing up to help out a family in need and boost their spirits in the process.

Pure Salon is planning to sponsor a local family and provide them with free makeovers, including haircuts and other services for the entire family. They’ll also be providing them with new clothing. The community can participate in helping the family as well. Pure Salon will be hosting an open house and party in appreciation for their clients, as well as an open invitation for the community to drop by, have some fun and get involved in helping the family.

“With the economy the way it is, we know families out there are struggling,” said salon coordinator Lindsey Blalock. “We’ve received a lot of support from the community, and this is just a little something we can do to give back to them. This is our first time doing something like this, and we hope to be able to continue it every year.”

The party will be held on Nov. 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the salon. There will be food, drinks, door prizes, raffles, goody bags and giveaways. The salon will also be accepting donations, either through gift cards or monetary contributions that will all go directly to the family.

Pure Salon will also be donating hundreds of brand name hair products to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. The salon has a loyal client, Phil Cunningham, who regularly volunteers with the Mission.

“We know how important working there is to him, and we want to show our support as well,” said Blalock.

Pure Salon is no stranger to community involvement. This past May, they co-sponsored the “Let Your Hair Down Love Fest,” where 42 participants donated their hair for Locks of Love. The salon provided haircuts free of charge.

Pure Salon is a full service salon that has been in business since 1994. They offer haircuts for men, women and children, as well as color and perms. They also have an esthetician on site for waxing, body treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures. With a staff of 11 stylists and one esthetician, they are more than prepared to meet your beauty needs.

Pure Salon is located at 5592 Hwy 42 West. For more information, you can contact the salon at 773-0404.
