Dr. Chris Godwin of Johnston County Schools was awarded the title of District 11 Administrator of the Year for the North Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals. This honor came on Friday, October 30, at the Fall District 11 meeting, which was conducted at Smithfield Selma High School.

Dr. Godwin currently serves as Executive Director for Regular and Gifted Education for Johnston County Schools.

According to letters of recommendation, written by colleagues, Dr. Godwin has a passion for teaching others, whether they are 6th graders or assistant principals. His love for children sparked the initiative to successfully write both the 21st Century S.A.I.L. and GEAR UP Grants for Johnston County Schools. These grants have served numerous at-risk students through after school programs and gaining college awareness. He was also nominated because of his innovative ideas and the value that others place on his professional judgment. He works with teachers on a regular basis through a variety of activities and workshops. Dr. Godwin is noted for having made a significant impact on the progress that has been made by students. He is in high demand by many other school districts across the state and nation to deliver workshops on various topics such as instructional differentiation.

As the District 11 representative, Dr. Godwin will go on to compete for the state title. Last spring, he awarded the Administrator of the Year for the Johnston County Schools by the Johnston County Association of Educational Professionals.
