Turkey and Ham Shoots at Clyde’s Chapel Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church near Archer Lodge will hold a series of turkey and ham shoots. The hours are 7-8:30 each night. A ladies shoot and a youth shoot are included. The cost is $5 per shot. Concessions will be available. The dates are Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 4-5. Proceeds will go to the church’s Relay for Life team and World Changers youth mission project. Christmas in Cleveland The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to our Annual Christmas in Cleveland celebration. This event will be held on Dec. 3 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Fit for Life Fitness Club parking lot off of Technology Rd. The event is filled with lots of entertainment for children of all ages. Michelle Samios, the Chamber President, will start off the evening with the official lighting of the Cleveland community Christmas tree. Santa Claus will be arriving in the Southern National Raceway Park’s Pace car. Brandi K Autry will be on site to take FREE photos of the kids, young and old with Santa. Our widely received toy drive is returning. Santa asks that you bring an unwrapped toy to help our military families.
A soldier from Fort Bragg will be on hand to accept the gifts and return them to the base for distribution.
Canned Food Drive during Festival of Trees Keep Johnston County Beautiful, Inc. will host its 6th Annual Festival of Trees from Dec. 3 through Dec. 9 at the Johnston Medical Mall in Smithfield. This year’s special feature will be a Canned Food Drive throughout the week where visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item. Food collection bins will be located at the North and South entrances of the Medical Mall. Keep Johnston County Beautiful, Inc. will sponsor a “Food Tree” where food items may also be placed for collection. The Canned Food Drive will be a “Gift to the County” from Keep Johnston County Beautiful to alleviate hunger for Johnston County families during the holiday season. Breakfast with Santa The Rhythm Savvy Pulse Clogging team will be hosting a fund-raising Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill , 1165 US Highway 70 W, Garner on Saturday, Dec. 12. 10U Tryouts NC Cleveland Indians 10U team is looking for dedicated and motivated boys to join us for our spring season ending in Cooperstown, NY in June 2010. GCAA Rec Soccer Registrations Open 2010 Spring Rec Soccer Registrations at GCAA are now open at www.gcaasoccer.com. Registrations are for U04 (under age 4) through U15 (under age 15) age groups. Important dates, fees, and details of play for each age group are also on our web site. Registrations end Jan. 16. Practices begin mid February. Games start beginning of March. Don't forget to sign up to volunteer as a coach, assistant coach, or team parent. Remember, the GCAA is a community organization and run by all volunteers. With your help, we will have another successful season. We will offer one walk-in registration date at the Ag Building on the GCAA campus on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. Greater Cleveland Athletic Association strives to maintain a balance between teaching soccer skills, citizenship, sportsmanship, and healthy competition. We have minimum participation rules in all leagues to ensure that all players become a vital part of the team. GCAA is a member of the NC Youth Soccer Association.
