The collision between the rescue unit and two additional vehicles occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of N.C. Hwy. 210 and Old Fairgrounds Road near the Johnston-Harnett county line.
Authorities said the EMS unit may have gone through the intersection before it was cleared and was hit by another vehicle. The ambulance flipped on its side and then hit an SUV.
Paramedics transported the three medical responders that were inside the unit at the time of the crash to WakeMed. They also took three people who were inside the other two vehicles to the hospital.
Authorities stated that the injuries of all six did not appear to be life threatening.
