Winston-Salem, N.C.—Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet 2nd Lt. Gregory Morris recently attended and completed the Winston-Salem Composite Squadron Cadet Training Weekend. Training began the morning of January 2 at 0800 and concluded the evening of January 3 at 1800. The program included about 6 senior members who observed and served as safety advisors.
Cadet Morris served as the administrative officer. His responsibilities included collecting fees, processing paperwork, creating and printing certificates for other cadets participating in the program, and assisting the cadet commander as needed.
The Cadet Training Weekend included three cadet schools including an Airman School where cadets learned basic skills such as CAP history and drill and ceremonies. Non-commissioned officer (NCO) School taught cadets about officer preparation. It focused on drilling the flight and other responsibilities of NCOs. Officer School taught cadet officers about drilling the squadron, preparing NCOs for teaching others, and prepared them for staff positions.
Cadet Morris is the son of David and Jennifer Morris. He currently resides in Clayton, N.C. and attends Johnston County Early College Academy as a 10th grade student. Cadet Morris serves as the flight commander for the Johnston County Cadet Squadron.
