The Johnston County Arts Council, working in partnership with Johnston Health, seeks to promote the use of the arts to enhance the healthcare experience for patients, their families and caregivers at Johnston Medical Center-Clayton, a new outpatient hospital on N.C. 42 West in Clayton.

The public is invited to attend the artist demonstration on July 15, 2010 from 11am to 1pm in the main lobby of Johnston Medical Center-Clayton.

Johnston County artist John McFadden, owner of The Jewelry Design Studio, specializes in hand crafted, fabricated and forged jewelry from raw materials, including sterling silver, copper and brass. The one-of-a-kind items sell from $15.00 TO $200. The signature series includes Mokume Gane, a Japanese tri-color metal design, filigree, bubble collection and nature series.

John is a national award winning jewelry designer receiving 1st and 3rd place and ‘Best of Show’ at the Mid-America Jewelry show in Columbus, OH in 2006 and at the Jewelers of America Show in New York City in January of 2007.

The Arts-in-Healthcare program will continue throughout the year with scheduled demonstrations on the third Thursday of each month from 11am to 1pm at Johnston Medical Center-Clayton. The 2010 Piedmont Laureate, Zelda Lockhart will continue on August 19th.
