Basic Computers in the Workplace I
This course is designed for anyone who needs basic computer skills training. The course is also excellent for job seekers interested in learning computer basics for job searching. The class will meet Sept. 7 – Sept. 10 or Oct. 4 – Oct. 7 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in Room 115 of the Elsee Building on the main campus in Smithfield or Oct. 4 – Oct. 7 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Workforce Development Center in Clayton.
Basic Computers in the Workplace II
This course is a continuation of Basic Computers in the Workplace I. Students will learn to create job search documents and use the computer more effectively as a job search tool. The class will meet Aug. 16 – Aug. 19 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Workforce Development Center in Clayton or Sept. 20 – Sept. 23 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in Room 115 of the Elsee Building on the main campus in Smithfield.
Effective Strategies for Your Job Search
This 3-hour workshop will provide tips on topics critical for job seekers. Topics include: resume writing, cover letters, interviewing skills and how to handle difficult information. The workshop will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8 or Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 8 – 11 a.m. at the JobLink Career Center in Clayton.
Resumes, Cover Letters & More
With the help of a knowledgeable instructor, this 6-hour class will be an opportunity to actually create an effective resume, as well as a cover letter that will get the attention of employers. Class times are Wednesday, Sept. 1 or Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. -2:30 p.m. in Room 115 of the Britt Building on the main campus in Smithfield.
Reinventing Yourself for a New Career
This course is perfect for those who are finishing school or those who have been recently laid off and don’t know where to start with the job search process. Information will be given on how to network and on how to best sell your strengths to employers. Class times are Aug. 23 – Aug. 26 or Oct. 18 - Oct 21 from noon – 4 p.m. in Room 115 of the Elsee Building on the main campus in Smithfield.
Re-Entry Workshop
Don’t let a criminal record get in the way of job searching. Learn what to do with difficult information on an application, resume and during the interview. Let this class be the first step in starting over. Class times are Aug. 30 – Sept. 2 or

Pre-Teller Certification
This course is designed to assist individuals who would like to enter the banking industry as a bank teller. Information provided will include skill awareness, banking terminology, computer skill training and customer relation skills. The class will meet on Mondays, Aug. 23 - Nov.1 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. in Room J1210 of the Public Safety Services Building on the main campus in Smithfield.
Pathway to Health Care
Are you considering a career in healthcare, but you are unsure about your options? This class explores the various occupations within Johnston County and surrounding counties. Understanding the education, experience and employment requirements is the first step. The class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays Sept. 13 – Oct. 6 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Workforce Development Center in Clayton.
Pathway to Customer Service - (NEW COURSE)
This certificate program will prepare you for any job that requires customer contact. Learn how to establish credibility & trust while remaining customer-focused. The class will meet on Mondays, Sept. 13 – Nov. 15 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Workforce Development Center in Clayton.
Pathway to Manufacturing - (NEW COURSE)
This 30-hour course is specifically designed for those who are seeking employment in a manufacturing setting. The class will cover the job search process, workplace ethics, money management, math & measurements and OSHA Standards. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays Aug. 24 – Oct. 14 from 3 – 5 p.m. in Room 205 at the Benson Center.
