"Some people are born to go into the family business, education, and I
am one of those individuals,” she said. “My father is a former superintendent and was my principal my entire educational career, K-12.”
A native North Carolinian, Williams earned her BS in Management of Human Resources from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. She worked for a rehabilitation company, Health South, for five years in their IT division in Alabama. She eventually found herself pursuing the family business. She began her educational career at Clayton Middle School as a computer skills teacher before deciding to go into school administration. She applied to the NC Principal Fellows Program, receiving the scholarship and completing her Masters of School Administration from East Carolina University. Williams completed her administrative internship at West Johnston High School during the 2009-2010 school year.
Williams says there is one thing in particular that makes her stand out in a crowd.
“The first question you may have when you see me is, ‘Why is she wearing sunglasses in the building?’ Many have thought I was going for the ‘cool factor,’ or one of my favorites, an FBI agent. The truth is I suffer from a self-inflicted eye injury that has dilated my left eye
permanently and left scar tissue in my eye. Nonetheless, I’m easy to
spot in a room to say the least.”
Williams is also eager for the school year to begin.
“I am very excited to be at Dixon Road Elementary,” she said. “I look forward to meeting the students, parents, and community of Dixon Road Elementary."
